Fulbrights for Teachers

The best experiences I had in professional development while teaching was visiting other schools abroad through funded programs for teachers. I have visited schools in Japan, England, and Israel through various programs for educators. These programs were all fully funded = not a dime of my own money was spent.

I just got an email from the Institute for International Education which included their Global Opportunities for Teachers Newsletter. I thought some of you out there might be interested in taking a pause from the pressure of the American classroom for a year and doing something abroad. If I were childless and still teaching in the K-12 system, I’d be on this like white on rice. Shoot–I’d probably drag my kids abroad, too.

Go here and poke around: http://www.iie.org/Working-Professionals-and-Teachers.

There might be something for you to apply for now or later.
